With the theme “Explosive Atmosphere: Efficient Safety, from prevention to action”, the event presented safety methods in classified areas and the most modern practices to provide a suitable and safe environment for Santos and region.

Engemon, a Brazilian company focused on engineering and technology with Alpha Equipamentos Elétricos, held the Explosive Atmosphere Safety Forum, on October 10, from 2pm to 6:30pm, at the Parque Balneário Hotel, in Santos. The central theme was “Explosive Atmospheres: Efficient Safety, from prevention to action”. The target audience were entrepreneurs, engineering executives and technicians from Santos and region. Sevo Systems Brasil and Sipec signed on as sponsors.

According to Marco Silva, Engemon’s president, the Santos port area is fundamental for the flow and storage of cargo arriving in Brazil, besides accommodating several industries with a profile of explosive atmospheres areas with risk of accidents due to excess of flammable products. “The idea of the event arose precisely to educate the professionals who work in the region about the importance of investment in safety that can save lives and business.

The event brought preponderant themes and practices to provide an adequate and safe environment for companies, professionals, and society. The main exhibitions were Equipment Certification, Area Classification, Types of Protection, and Life Cycle of the facilities in explosive atmospheres. Among the speakers was one of the most relevant names in the market, the engineer and technical consultant for Petrobrás, Roberval Bulgarelli. Coordinator of the SC-31 Subcommittee of Cobei, Bulgarelli represents Brazil in the IEC’s Technical Committees TC 31 (Explosive Atmospheres) and TC 95 (Protection Devices) and IECEX. He was the first Brazilian to receive the IEC 1906 International Recognition Award.

The Santos Harbor is the largest* source of income for Santos and the region, performing one third of Brazil’s commercial exchanges and generating 33,000 work positions. For liquid storage, it has a capacity of 700,000 m3 and, for solid bulk, facilities to hold more than 2.5 million tons.
